MANILA – Negrense Mark Nonoy and Vince Deo Cuajao are both thrilled to join De La Salle University (DLSU) men’s basketball team following their departure from University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers.
The La Carlota City, Negros Occidental-native Nonoy sees this as a big challenge in his basketball career as he chases his first University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) championship.
“It’s a big challenge kasi madami akong ka-position sa La Salle,” Nonoy told Panay News. “Handa naman ako sa lahat ng challenges na ibibigay ni coach Derrick (Pumaren) at gagawin ko ang lahat para ma-reach ‘yung goal na mag-champion sa UAAP.”
“Gusto ko din na suklian ‘yung tiwala na ibinigay sa akin. I am looking forward sa tough trainings dahil sanay naman na ako since when I am still with UST,” he added.
Meanwhile, Davaoeno Cuajao looks at his Green Archers move as a career reboot after being used sparingly by former coach Aldin Ayo during his rookie days.
“I see this as a new challenge for me and I am also excited to learn the system of Manong Derrick,” Cuajao said. “Handa ako sa kung anumang role na ibibigay sa akin.”
“Personally, gusto ko talaga makatikim ng championship sa UAAP but I know naman na dapat paghirapan ko iyon,” he added.
Pumaren, meanwhile, sees the former Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix star Nonoy as a great addition to the Green Archers in UAAP Season 84 with the impending graduation of Aljun Melecio./PN
