Negrense Yap, Ilonggo Tubid in PBA All-Star 3-point shooting

MANILA – Rain or Shine Elasto Painters’ James Yap and Ronald Tubid of Columbian Dyip will be among the participants in the 3-Point Shootout of the 2018 PBA All-Star Games on May 25 in Batangas City.

The Escalante City, Negros Occidental-native Yap will be aiming for his second 3-Point Shootout title after winning his first in 2009 while the Iloilo-native Tubid is still chasing his first title in the competition.

Blackwater Elite’s Allein Maliksi will be defending his 3-Point Shootout championship while TNT KaTropa’s Terrence Romeo seeks to reclaim the crown after his back-to-back championship was halted last year.

Other participants are Alaska Aces’ Jvee Casio, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings’ LA Tenorio, GlobalPort Batang Pier’s Stanley Pringle, Meralco Bolts’ Garvo Lanete, NLEX Road Warriors’ Larry Fonacier, Phoenix Fuel Masters’ Matthew Wright, Magnolia Hotshots’ Paul Lee, and San Miguel Beermen’s Marcio Lassiter.

The league, meanwhile, decided to have a twist in its Obstacle Challenge, which will feature centers from PBA squads unlike before when point guards were tapped for the competition.

Among the participants are Ilonggo Ken Bono of Bolts, Road Warriors’ Asi Taulava, Beau Belga of Elasto Painters, Joachim Thoss of Aces and Kings’ Raymond Aguilar.

Also in the provisional list are Kings’ Raymond Aguilar, Elite’s JP Erram, Batang Pier’s Kelly Nabong, Columbian Dyip’s Russell Escoto, Bolts’ Ken Bono, Fuel Masters’ Doug Kramer, Hotshots’ Aldrech Ramos, Beermen’s Yancy de Ocampo, and KaTropa’s Yousef Taha./PN
