MANILA – Ceres-Negros FC and Kaya Futbol Club Iloilo looks to finish on top of their groups heading into the semifinal round at the close of the Philippines Football League – Copa Paulino Alcantara elimination round matches today.
The three-time League champions Ceres-Negros will take on the already-eliminated Green Archers United FC in the lone game at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa, Batangas at 7 p.m.
Ceres-Negros and Mendiola FC 1991 are currently tied on top of Group A with four points on one win and a draw, followed by the Philippines U22 team with three points on one win and a loss,.
The Green Archers had zero points.
For the Busmen to finish on top of Group A, they have to defeat the Green Archers, while a defeat or a draw coupled by a draw or a victory by either Mendiola or Philippines U22 in their separate games tonight will slump the Negrenses to No. 2.
Defending champions Kaya-Iloilo, on the other hand, looks to also seal the No. 1 seed in Group B when it takes on Stallion-Laguna FC at 4 p.m. at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.
The Ilonggos and Stallion-Laguna are already assured of semis seats with their three points on one victory, while Philippine Air Force bowed out of contention with two defeats in Group B.
The winner of the Kaya-Iloilo and Stallion-Laguna game will emerge as Group B’s top seed but in case of a draw, it will be the Ilonggos who will be the No. 1 seed in the group due to higher goal difference./PN
