MANILA – Negrense boxer Merlito Sabillo wages war against Sho Kimura of Japan for the ASEAN Boxing Federation (ABF) flyweight belt at the Manila Arena tonight.

The Toboso, Negros Occidental-native is hoping to snap from his three-game losing skid, having won his last clash in 2017 against compatriot Crison Omayao.

After that, fortune wasn’t by the side of Sabillo as he bowed to Edward Heno and Jin Xiang in title fights in 2018 before also being defeated by Daniel Valladares last year.

Kimura, on the other hand, is also hoping to get back on the winning track after losing to Carlos Canizares for the World Boxing Association world light flyweight championship.

The 36-year-old Sabillo, a former world boxing champion, will be entering the ring with a 27-7-1 win-loss-draw ring record, while Kimura has a decent 18-3-2 boxing slate.

Meanwhile, in the supporting bout, Silay City-native Richard Claveras (18-7-2, 15 KOs) will be tangling with Richard Rosales (14-11-2, 8 KOs), while Bacolodnon Reymar Condes (2-2-0, 2 KOs) faces Jayson Vayson (8-0-1, 4 KOs).

The boxing card was presented by DMAD Boxing Promotions, Highland Boxing and Max Power Promotions./PN
