BACOLOD City – The recently concluded Negros Trade Fair in Manila proved that a public-private partnership is ideal for a project to succeed, according to Negros Provincial Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Cristine Mansinares.
“The Negros Trade Fair was a success for both the private sector and the government because this year, tourism was incorporated in the theme,” Mansinares said.
The showcased products were inspired from the flora and fauna of the local government units of Cauayan, Bacolod, San Carlos, Victorias and Silay.
The local government units (LGUs) also showcased their tourism offerings especially conservation sites and nature parks.
According to Mansinares, the Negros Trade Fair is a platform to introduce to Manila the new sites and the development happening in Negros.
“We have encountered guests who … wanted to see Negros and were asking for tour packages and want us to partner with them in their activities like other nongovernment organizations who are into conservation [and] community development. We get linkages through [the trade fair] which hopefully next year we wanted to involve more LGUs,” Mansinares added.
Meanwhile, during the opening ceremony of the Tourism Week celebration on Sept. 26, Ma. Carmella M. Valderrama, daughter of Gov. Alfredo G. Marañon Jr., thanked the tourism stakeholders especially the local government units who participated in the trade fair.
“The 31st NTF [Negros Trade Fair], [that] we co-sponsored with the Association of Negros Producers, is successful and it is the biggest annual promotional event of the province,” Valderrama disclosed. (PIA/PN)
