TO commemorate the anniversary of the Martial Law in the Philippines, the Active Vista International Human Rights Film Festival presented the film “Engkwentro” by Pepe Diokno on Sept. 24 at Robinsons Place Movieworld Iloilo.
Bannering the theme, “Truth X Imagination,” Active Vista screened the important film in a crucial time when human rights need to be mainstreamed into the public consciousness as the nation face great challenges ahead.
The organization believes that more than ever, now is the time for human rights advocates, government, the academe and artist community to come together.
Active Vista is organized by Dakila. It is a play on the Filipino word, aktibista, a dynamic (active) way of viewing (vista) things. It is essentially a human rights education platform to empower the public in bringing about relevant social change by stirring critical thinking among its audience as a step towards their education as citizens.
The support of Ilonggos to Active Vista Screenings shall help inspire the Filipino public to explore changing mindsets towards the movement of change at this very crucial time for the country./PN
