SAN JOSE, Antique – Firefighters in this capital town now have a new building.
The San Jose Fire Station edifice at the Trade Town in Barangay Dalipe will serve as a central station, according to Fire Senior Superintendent Lindy Lauzon, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) regional director.
Substations will be put up across town to improve response to fires and other emergencies.
“We need to expand the fire station, given the town’s fast-growing economy,” Lauzon said.
The new fire station building had an estimated cost of P2.6 million.
Its construction, Lauzon said, was part of the BFP’s modernization program anchored on two phases: capability-building and service-upgrading.
Capability-building includes putting up a fire station in every municipality, while service-upgrading involves replacing old fire trucks with brand-new ones.
Mayor Elmer Untaran thanked the BFP for “strengthening” the agency’s presence in his town. (PIA/PN)
