ROXAS City – Rolling stores are slated to be established by the National Food Authority (NFA) in different towns of Capiz soon.
This is to provide the public access to quality and affordable rice especially for those who were affected by the recent typhoon “Marce”.
Information officer Mary Christie Harion of the NFA disclosed that the move is part of the agency’s response during and after disasters.
NFA provincial manager Oliver Cambas, for his part, pointed out that in times of calamities, their office is open 24 hours to cater the rice needs of the different local government units (LGUs).
Cambas likewise assured Capisnons that their agency has sufficient rice stock for the consuming public. He also called on LGUs that have yet to sign their Memorandum of Agreement with the NFA to have it facilitated soon so they can withdraw rice stocks from the agency anytime, especially during calamities.
Records as of Nov. 29 show that NFA – Capiz has 160,860 bags of rice stocks which can last 28 days based on the 5,745 bags daily rice requirement in the province. (PIA/PN)
