BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) assured residents that there are no death squads operating here.

This comes after a series of shooting incidents in the city for the past few days.

The city police are not neglecting their duties and are doing everything they can to stop the killings, said BCPO spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Ronnie Brillo.

He also clarified that the shooting incidents in barangays Alijis, Villamonte and Sum-ag were not related.

The suspects were not part of any groups, Brillo added.

He further explained that the incident in Barangay Alijis was due to revenge and personal grudges, while a person of interest in Barangay Villamonte incident was already identified.

As to another shooting incident in Barangay Tangub on Jan. 21, Brillo said the victim managed to survive and identify the suspects. Appropriate criminal charges have been filed./PN
