SAN JOSE, Antique – No drug suspect was killed in police operations against drug trafficking in Antique so far, Gov. Rhodora Cadiao said.
Cadiao was satisfied in how the Antique Police Provincial Office carries out Oplan Double Barrel, the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) intensified antidrug operations that started on July 1.
“There are, according to the latest PNP report, more than 1,630 drug personalities killed from all over the country in the last three months,” the governor said.
“These are what they describe as extrajudicial killings,” she said. “I’m glad we have no [such] incident in the province.”
Cadiao said more than 1,400 suspected users and/or pushers have so far surrendered to the police since July 1.
Of the surrenderees, around 200 were “hardened” users who need immediate treatment and rehabilitation, she said.
Cadiao said they were constantly following up with the Department of Health and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office the funding for the planned drug rehabilitation center in Valderrama town.
“It is my ardent desire that the provincial government is able to help these victims of illegal drugs,” she said. (PNA)
