BACOLOD City – “No Smoking” signage must be installed within the premises of the Bacolod City Government Center, councilors stressed.
They wanted Mayor Evelio Leonardia to enforce the ordinance regulating smoking in public places here and the Civil Service Commission (CSC) memo prohibiting smoking in government buildings.
Smokers may still be observed along the lobby and hallways of city hall, said Councilor Em Ang.
“No Smoking” signage will remind city government workers and the general public that smoking is not allowed in the building, she said.
City Ordinance No. 641 series of 2013 regulates smoking in public places, including public conveyances, and advertisements, promotions and sponsorships of tobacco products.
On the other hand, CSC Memorandum Circular No. 171 series of 2009 mandates “absolute smoking ban in or on premises, buildings and grounds of government agencies providing health, education, social welfare and development services such as hospitals, health centers, schools, and universities/colleges, among others.”/PN
