‘NPA rebel’ arrested in NegOcc

BACOLOD City – An alleged member of New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested in Escalante City, Negros Occidental.

Police identified him as 49-year-old Rem Lanie Pintor of Barangay Balintawak, Escalante City.

He was believed to be one of the NPA fighters involved in a firefight against 79th Infantry Battalion troopers of the Philippine Army in Barangay Mina-utoc, Calatrava, Negros Occidental last May 15, a police report showed.

A hand grenade rifle was recovered from Pintor’s possession, it added.

He was detained in the Escalante City police station’s custodial facility, facing charges./PN
