BACOLOD City – A mall in Barangay Mandalagan has yet to comply with construction “deficiencies,” the Office of the Building Official (OBO) said.
The OBO issued CityMall an occupancy permit after the establishment’s project-in-charge signed on Nov. 9 an affidavit of undertaking promising to comply with construction deficiencies in 30 days.
OBO head Isidro Sun Jr. said he told Reynaldo Tenedero of Bon Builders Corp. on Thursday, Dec. 8 that the affidavit of undertaking expires Friday.
But Sun himself was not certain what happens after the affidavit expires. He said he has yet to study the action the OBO was going to take.
The affidavit stated that CityMall should provide restrooms for persons with disabilities at the ground floor, install railings at the stairs and the second floor Atrium, build a second-floor plan, and install all plumbing fixtures, among others.
Meanwhile the City Legal Office was investigating the allegation that the OBO had been bribed to issue the occupancy permit.
A text message sent to journalists stated that Sun issued a “fake temporary occupancy permit” and that “some engineers” received a “P1.5-million bribe for the opening of CityMall on Nov. 8.” Another text claimed Tenedero and a companion gave the money to Sun and some OBO engineers.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia ordered the City Legal Office to investigate.
Sun and Tenedero had separately denied the allegations./PN
