
KALIBO, Aklan – A total of 420 teachers served during yesterday’s conduct of the synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in this capital town.
Kalibo has 140 clustered precincts in 16 barangays to accommodate 63,978 registered voters.
Of the total number, 47,888 are barangay poll voters while 16,090 are SK voters, according to the Commission on Elections.
The teachers were deployed as members of the Board of Election Tellers (BET). They served as canvassers along with 17 supervising officers and 17 support staff.
An election task force and monitoring center were also established at the Department of Education Aklan division office to address concerns of poll-serving teachers across the province.
The chairperson of the three-member BET will receive P6,000 while the two other members, P5,000.
DepEd supervising officers will also receive P4,000 each while the support staff, P2,000.
These are on top of their travel allowance worth P1,000. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
