ILOILO City – Two high-value drug suspects were arrested and over P1.36 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Calumpang, Molo district on Monday night, April 7.
The suspects were identified as Jeffrey Gallofin, 24, a resident of Arevalo district, and Miahbert Panes, 20, of Molo. Both are reportedly jobless.
Authorities confiscated approximately 200 grams of suspected shabu, along with P6,000 in marked money and several non-drug items.
The joint operation was conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Iloilo City Police Office, in coordination with the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) and Iloilo City Police Station 4.
The suspects are now under police custody while the seized illegal drugs have been turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit 6 for laboratory analysis.
Mayor Jerry Treñas commended the law enforcement units involved, saying the arrest sends a strong message to drug syndicates.
“The arrest of two high-value suspects and the seizure of suspected shabu worth P1.36 million is a significant blow to the drug trade in our city,” Treñas said. “Time and again, our police officers have proven that their commitment to protect the Ilonggos is not just a duty but a calling.”
The mayor reiterated the city’s stance against illegal drugs. “Never again will we allow illegal drugs to flourish in our city. Not now. Not ever,” he stressed./PN
