BACOLOD City – Police confiscated an estimated P1.4 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tangub here.
The suspected illegal drugs weighing about 225 grams was seized from Maricar Chavez, police said.
Chavez – a resident of Barangay 22 – allegedly initially sold a sachet of shabu to a police agent for P1,000.
Personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit staged the operation around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 20.
Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, public information officer of the Bacolod City Police Office, said they have been monitoring Chavez’s illegal drug activity for quite a while.
“The suspect was tagged a “high-value” target. She was detained in the lockup facility of Police Station 8,” Pico added.
According to Pico, Tuesday’s drug haul was among the largest seized in recent weeks.
On July 17, police recovered P1.2 million worth of shabu from 43-year-old Regina Oro and her 20-year-old son Sam Oro Aguirre at Purok Bayanihan, Barangay Banago.
On July 18, operatives of Police Station 3 also seized a total of P5.062 million of the same prohibited substance from four persons during an entrapment operation in Barangay Alijis.
During the operation of Regional Drug Enforcement Unit-Western Visayas and Bacolod City Police Office Station 7 on Aug. 8, an unidentified 18-year-old individual was also caught selling shabu, who yielded two pouches and six sachets of the prohibited substance worth P1.8 million./PN
