BACOLOD City – A woman lost jewelry items worth P38,000 to a thief.
Among those the 44-year-old Zenaida Los Banes Lehmkuhl lost were sets of silver earrings, rings and necklaces.
She told the police the jewelry items were inside her brown leather shoulder bag on top of a sofa chair in their bedroom.
Lehmkuhl said she and her live-in partner were sleeping on Tuesday evening in their house in Barangay Maayongtubig, Dauin, Negros Oriental when she was awakened by the barking of their dogs.
She checked, but she did not notice anything suspicious, so she went back to sleep.
Around 12 noon the following day, her house help Juvy Unido found her valuables scattered at their backyard. That was when she discovered that her jewelry were missing.
Lehmkuhl believed the suspect used three stacked plastic chairs to climb up the window, destroy the screen and detach jalousie blades to get in their bedroom./PN
