ILOILO – The special investigation team is still looking for “credible” witnesses who would pinpoint those behind the killing of 36-year-old businesswoman Claire Diergos. A total of P400,000 reward is being offered.
The municipality of Pavia through Mayor Laurence Anthony Gorriceta pledged P100,000 in addition to the P300,000 earlier offered by businessman Carlo Hubo, a friend of Diergos.
“Anyone nga may ara sang hawid sang impormasyon, kun sin-o ini ang mga indibidwal or personalidad sa likod sang sini nga krimen, pwede gid ka-come forward kag maghatag sa amon sang impormasyon,” said Hubo.
Credible witnesses may send information through the hotline of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (0998-
9673719) or via its official Facebook page.
Diergos was found dead inside her sport utility vehicle in the afternoon of Oct. 26 in Barangay Inangayan, Santa Barbara town.
Police investigators determined that Diergos was stabbed to death in her house at Deca Homes Subdivision in Pavia town.
“We need credible ones. Indi lang palagpat nga witness,” stressed Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, provincial police director.
He also appealed to the media not to preempt the ongoing investigation.
“Ginagamitan sang technical kag scientific procedures ang ginapatigayon nga imbestigasyon,” Gorero said.
He also confirmed that Dergos’ helper, Rodelyn Sumbong, is now in the police’s protective custody.
Cops fetched her on Friday last week from her live-in partner’s house in Barangay Cabilauan, Barotac Nuevo town.
“She is in safe hands. Sa subong wala pa gid kita sang may matudlo nga suspects. Gina tahi-tahi ta pa ang mga impormasyon kag ebendensya,” Gorero said.
Earlier, Police Major Raymond Celoso, chief of the Santa Barbara municipal police station, said those behind the killing of Diergos appeared to be no ordinary people, pointing out the attempts to conceal the crime by scrubbing clean Diergos’ house to remove blood stains.
Celoso said Sumbong may have known more than what she has so far disclosed to probers./PN
