‘Paeng’ death toll in WV climbs to 33, 9 more missing

ILOILO City – The number of confirmed casualties in Western Visayas due to Severe Tropical Storm “Paeng” has risen to 33 while nine more persons are still missing.

As of Nov. 3, Antique has the most number of deaths at 11, followed by Iloilo with eight, and Aklan and Capiz with seven each, data from the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) 6-Emergency Operation Center showed.

No casualties have been reported in Negros Occidental and Guimaras.

Based on the consolidated data from the Management of the Dead and Missing Cluster of RDRRMC-6, the following are the confirmed deaths:

* Jaypee Buendia, 27, male – due to flashflood in Barangay San Roque, Tapaz, Capiz

* Genevev Nacion, 25, female – carried away by strong current of flood in Barangay Guibongon, Bayunan, San Joaquin, Iloilo

* Ruiz Dalupines, 57, male – drowning and suffocation in mud in Barangay Dalagsaan, Libacao, Aklan

* Raul Baet, 52, male – drowning and suffocation in mud in Barangay Loctuga, Libacao, Aklan

* Nelson Baet, 40, male – drowning in Barangay Loctuga, Libacao, Aklan

* Lyn Lyn Baet, 28, female – drowning and suffocation in mud in Barangay Loctuga, Libacao, Aklan

* Melo Katimpo, 31, male – drowning and suffocation in mud in Barangay Loctuga, Libacao, Aklan

* Ernesto Lunasco, 67, male – carried away by strong current of flood in Barangay Nagdayao, Sibalom, Antique

* Rodolfo Estoleros, 61, male – due to cardiac arrest/hypothermia in Barangay Iglanot, Sibalom, Antique

* Lunimar Naranjo, 33, male – drowning in Barangay Piape I, Hamtic, Antique

* Juan Sombilon, 55, male – covered by landslide in Barangay Camandagan, Tobias Fornier, Antique

On the other hand, of the nine missing individuals, six were from Antique while the three others were from Aklan, Capiz and Negros Occidental.
