MANILA – The Malacañang on Tuesday justified the inclusion of starlet-turned-blogger Mocha Uson in President Rodrigo Duterte’s visit to Middle East countries.
Uson, a board member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), earlier posted a Facebook video on the presidential plane, having a brief chat with the President.
“The appointed official of the MTRCB is part of the Philippine delegation. She has a large following among the overseas Filipino communities, especially in the Middle East,” said presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella.
Duterte is scheduled to visit Riyahd, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from April 10 to 12; Manama, Bahrain from April 12 to 14; and Doha, Qatar from April 14 to 16.
Her participation in these foreign trips will “help boost morale and well-being” of Filipino migrant workers, the spokesperson said.
In his departure speech last Monday, Duterte said that his Middle East state visit aims to deepen economic ties with the Gulf states.
“It is the global center of traditional energy resources. It is a source of investments with potential for much growth. It is an expanding market for key Philippine products and services. And, it is home to the largest group of Filipinos working overseas,” the President said./PN
