ROXAS City – Heavy rains brought by tropical storm “Paolo” left 34 barangays in Capiz swamped.
Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) recorded that most of the flooded areas were rice fields.
These areas include 13 barangays in Sigma, 10 in Panitan, four in Cuartero, three in Panay, two in Pontevedra, and one each in Mambusao and Dumalag, data from the PDRRMO showed.
As of 11 a.m. on Oct. 23, PDRRMO said only seven of these barangays remain flooded.
Esperedion Pelaez of the PDRRMO said waters in these areas are gradually subsiding.
“There was no recorded evacuee or casualty relative to such flooding incident in the province,” Pelaez added.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in the province is observing the “La Niña Watch.”
PAGASA-Capiz head Imelda Ofalla said five more typhoons are expected to hit the country by the end of the year. (PIA/PN)
