ILOILO City – The Iloilo-Guimaras Paraw Regatta Festival 2024 wrapped up peacefully on Sunday, March 3, at Villa Beach in Arevalo district.
No major related crimes or incidents were reported to the police throughout the week-long celebration, which kicked off on February 25, according to Colonel Joeresty P. Coronica, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
Acknowledging the significance of collective effort, Coronica expressed gratitude for the cooperation and support from all involved in achieving this milestone.
“Once again, we have accomplished the merriest and safest sailing event, and we extend our appreciation to everyone who stood with us. Your dedication to serving the Ilonggos is invaluable, and words cannot fully express our gratitude,” he said.
Coronica expressed gratitude to the personnel of the ICPO, as well as augmented forces and other law enforcement agencies, for their peacekeeping efforts.
The ICPO also extended appreciation to stakeholders, various government agencies and the public for their contributions to the success of this year’s event.
Paraw Regatta Festival, held annually in the waters sandwiched by Iloilo City and Guimaras Island, is more than a sporting event; it is also a celebration of the maritime heritage and cultural traditions, showcasing native boatmen’s skills and their love for the sea./PN
