ILOILO City – The daughter of the late Councilor Armand Parcon took the first step towards replacing him in the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP).

Atty. Frances Parcon took her oath as member of her father’s political party, the National Unity Party (NUP), before Mayor Jerry Treñas on Wednesday.

“I am very happy. We feel the presence and support of Armand Parcon through her. His legacy of kindness and inspiration lives on,” said Treñas.

The NUP leadership is expected to soon formally nominate Parcon as her father’s replacement in the city council.

Councilor Armand Parcon, 59, died on May 23 at the West Visayas State University Medical Center due to pneumonia 10 days after he was reelected for a third consecutive term on May 13.

Parcon placed No. 2 in the election for city council seats. He got 105,912 votes.

Prior to entering politics, he was a popular reporter and anchorman at DyFM Bombo Radyo Iloilo.

Aside from the Committee on Police Matters, Parcon also handled the SP Committees on Veterans, Retirees, Elderly and Disabled Persons; Committee on Labor, Employment, Manpower Development and Placement; and Committee Communication and Public Information./PN
