ILOILO – The parents of a 22-year-old woman reportedly abducted by two armed men on Sept. 18 in Barangay Central, Ajuy, Iloilo told the police they were no longer interested in the investigation.
Rene and Alicia Ira submitted an “affidavit of non-interest” on Sept. 30, according to Chief Inspector Charlie Sustento, Ajuy police chief.
In it, they also stated they were not interested in filing criminal charges against the two men who took their daughter Renelyn away, said Sustento.
“They were uncooperative when we went to their house recently to ask for more information about their daughter,” revealed the police chief.
According to Sustento, Rene and Alicia appeared not worried when they submitted their affidavit on Saturday.
They refused to give more details about their daughter, he added.
“I believe Renelyn’s parents know her whereabouts…Perhaps their daughter is in the good hands,” Sustento added.
Renelyn’s family reported to the Ajuy police that two armed men took her from their house in Barangay Central on the night of Sept. 18.
Last week, Sustento said, Renelyn appeared to have a made a new Facebook account.
Renelyn posted photos that showed she was in what looked like a hotel, said Sustento.
One photo showed her eating alone, said Sustento, but there were three plates and these could indicate she had companions.
“She appeared safe and seemed to enjoy her stay there. There were no signs of threats in the photos,” said Sustento.
On the night of Renelyn’s supposed abduction, the men told her, “dala ka bayo” (bring some clothes) and according to the family, they were also told, “Indi kamo pakulba kay bayad na ‘ni ang bata n’yo. Indi kami rapist (Don’t be scared. Your daughter’s paid already. We’re not rapists).”
The men assured Ira’s parents they would return her to them unharmed.
According to the family, these were the men’s exact words: “Ibalik namon ang bata n’yo nga wala sang gasgas. May maestorya lang sa iya (We’re returning your daughter without a scratch. Someone simply wants to talk to her).”
The men left with Ira on a motorcycle./PN
