ILOILO City – Uswag Ilonggo party-list’s Cong. James “Jojo” Ang signaled his intention to seek another term in the 2028 elections, emphasizing continuity in public service regardless of political cycles.
“Yes, in 2028, we will continue. The Uswag Ilonggo party-list will still be there,” Ang said in an interview at the University of the Philippines Visayas – Iloilo City campus yesterday where he turned over a P20-million gymnasium project intended to serve student-athletes and provide a dedicated venue for sports and other UPV student activities, while also functioning as a multi-purpose hall.
“We will just continue serving. Whether there is an election or not, we keep on working. For us, it feels like every day is election day, so we remain sincere in our service to the Ilonggos,” he added.
The UPV gym project was also supported by Sen. Loren Legarda, the Department of Public Works and Highways – Iloilo City District Engineer Johny Pura, and UPV Chancellor Clement Camposano.
Ang underscored that public service should not be tied to election periods, stressing that their work continues daily on the ground. He said the party-list remains committed to its programs and outreach across Western Visayas.
Asked about being linked to flood control-related issues, Ang maintained confidence in the continued support of Ilonggos in the region.
“Yes, the support is still there. Even I don’t know why I was dragged into that issue,” he said.
“As long as your conscience is clear, you just move forward. You don’t look back again and again. You just continue,” he added.
The lawmaker stressed that integrity remains central in public service, saying there is no reason to be shaken by criticisms if one has nothing to hide.
“You will only feel nervous if you have something to hide. If your conscience is clean, you just go straight and continue serving,” Ang said.
Despite controversies, Ang expressed optimism that the party-list will retain public trust as it prepares for future elections, anchored on what he described as consistent and sincere service to Ilonggos./PN
