GUIMARAS – The Provincial Government of Guimaras officially ushers in the holiday season with the opening of Paskwa sa Isla 2025 tomorrow, December 5, highlighted by the much-awaited Lights-On Ceremony at the provincial capitol grounds.
The annual Christmas celebration, now a beloved tradition among Guimarasnons and visitors, promises a month filled with music, food, creativity, and family-centered festivities. Alongside the lighting ceremony, the Christmas Bazaar and Weekend Market will also formally open, showcasing local products, delicacies, and unique holiday finds crafted by MSMEs, community groups, and local entrepreneurs.
This year’s Paskwa sa Isla features a diverse lineup of activities designed to bring joy, promote camaraderie, and celebrate the festive spirit across the island province. Weekend evenings will be made even more vibrant through Paskwa Musika, a series of live performances featuring local buskers and bands. As an early holiday treat, the celebrated OPM group Neocolours will take center stage on December 6 for a special live performance.
Other highlights of the 2025 Paskwa sa Isla celebration include Christmas Carol Contest, Children’s Christmas Costume Party, Panabor sa Isla: Christmas Kakanin Edition, Mascot Making Contest, Fireworks Display, Cheerdance Competition, Guimaras Miniature Landmark Contest, and Basketball and Volleyball Tournament.
Gov. Ma. Lucille L. Nava emphasized that Paskwa sa Isla continues to serve not only as a festive gathering but also as an opportunity to strengthen community bonds and uplift local industries.
“Our Paskwa sa Isla celebration reminds us of the spirit of unity, gratitude, and hope that defines Guimarasnons. This is our way of bringing families and communities together while showcasing the creativity and resilience of our people,” she said.
With its mix of Christmas traditions, cultural showcases, and family entertainment, Paskwa sa Isla 2025 is expected to draw residents and visitors alike, turning the island province into a joyful holiday destination throughout the month of December.
