‘Paskwa sa Panai’ Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo’s first Yuletide season celebration

PARK Inn by Radisson Iloilo ushers its first Yuletide season celebration with the theme “Paskwa sa Panai.” The concept focuses on Iloilo City’s naturally colorful and festive Holiday customs and traditions.

To enliven the spirit of the Ilonggo tradition this Christmas season, Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo partnered with Cham Lopez, Balai Hablon and Atelier de Hablon; the group behind the contemporary yet classy culture-based Christmas designs at the hotel that values local hand-woven textiles and provides sustainable livelihood to the community.

The highlight of the hotel’s Christmas decor is hablon, a hand-woven textile used for clothes and tablecloths originated from Miag-ao – one of the towns in Iloilo. It is taken from the word “habol” which means “to weave” in Hiligaynon. Traditionally, it is made with local fibers such as piña, abaca, and cotton.

The hotel has set up a 12-foot Christmas tree at the lobby for the Christmas Tree Lighting program, mainly decorated with Christmas balls wrapped in hablon cloth, hablon angels, rattan balls and Capiz stars. The main idea was not just to celebrate and highlight the local tradition of Iloilo City but also to promote the talents of the local weavers and craftsmen inside and outside of Iloilo City.

The custom-made Christmas balls wrapped in hablon weaves and hablon angels were especially made woven by Balai Hablon in Miag-ao, Iloilo. It was formed by mother sewers and crafters in Sooc Social Ventures, Inc. in Iloilo City. While, the rattan balls or Sig-id balls were crafted by locals from Visayan provinces such as Cebu, Iloilo and Negros. The Capiz stars were also made by the craftsmen and women from Capiz Parol in Novaliches, Quezon City.

Holiday goodies and promos!

The hotel also officially launches the limited-edition Christmas goodies prepared by Chef Vance Bolivar, the hotel’s Sous Chef. Home-made Christmas jams, cookies, hampers and hams are up for grabs at the hotel. Part of the proceeds from the goodies will go to SOS Children’s Village Iloilo, a private, non-political, non-denominational organization that provides long-term family-based care to children in need.

For families looking for a place to spend their Christmas staycation, room promotions are also offered for as low as P4,000 nett per night. It includes 15 percent off voucher on Christmas buffet, spa and food and beverage./PN
