BACOLOD City – A pastor and his son were killed while three others were injured in a traffic accident along the national highway in Purok Matawhay, Barangay Binicuil, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental yesterday.
Police identified the fatalities as Roberto Sabio, 44, and his 17-year-old son, both residents of Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
Meanwhile, couple Clemente, 69, and Lilia España, 69, and Romeo Olmido, 57, incurred injuries. They were residents of Barangay Binicuil.
According to Police Lieutenant Dennis Melgarejo, deputy police chief, the victims were at a coffee shop along the road around 5 a.m. when rammed by a cargo truck that was reportedly running fast on the curvy and slippery road.
Investigation revealed that truck driver, Arnold Brillantes of Dumangas, Iloilo, was trying to avoid a parked motorcycle but lost control of the vehicle.
Brillantes was placed under the custody of the Kabankalan City police station, facing charges./PN
