MANILA – NLEX Road Warriors head coach Yeng Guiao has been meted with a fine by the PBA for the second time in the first two weeks of the 2016-2017 Oppo PBA Philippine Cup.
Guiao, a seven-time PBA champion coach, has been slapped with a P10,000 fine by PBA commissioner Andres Narvasa “for disrespectful gestures and utterances” towards the referees in Road Warriors’ 106-93 loss to the Meralco Bolts on Dec. 3.
Just a week ago, Guiao was also given a P1,000 fine for his first infraction: hurling profane language toward game officials during the Road Warriors’ 99-97 win over the Alaska Aces last Nov. 25.
Guiao, who is known for being frequently ejected from games for bad mouthing game officials, said he will still continue with his antics as long as the game officials commit phantom calls against his team.
“Marami pa silang sigaw at murang maririnig sa akin hanggang sa matuto sila,” said Guiao, who recently towed the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters to two PBA championships.
Aside from Guiao, also slapped with a fine are his players Eric Camson, P5,000 for flagrant foul, and Ilonggo Emman Monfort, P3,000 for second offense. Star Hotshots’ Aldrech Ramos was slapped with a P10,000 fine for committing an injurious foul.
Narvasa has also meted P7,500 fine each to TNT Katropa’s Moala Tautuaa and rookie Levi Hernandez and Blackwater Elite forward Dylan Ababou for a flagrant foul landing spot infraction.
Others who were fined of numerous infractions are Meralco Bolts’ Kelly Nabong and Rabeh Al-Hussaini, Aces’ Carl Bryan Cruz and Jaypee Mendoza, GlobalPort Batang Pier’s Terrence Romeo and San Miguel Beermen’s Gabby Espinas./PN
