PBA Legends banked on its experience to clobber Team Anilao 123-95 in the 13th Banaag Basketball Exhibition Game at the covered gym in Anilao, Iloilo.
Gary David led the way with 35 points, including eight 3-point conversions, while Nigerian Jeffatkins Aguara also showed his wares with three thunderous dunks for PBA Legends.
Also part of PBA Legends were retired PBA players Willie Miller, Noli Locsin, Marlou Aquino, and Kenneth Duremdes, and four players from the Western Visayas squad in Palarong Pambansa.
Team Anilao had a strong start in the Saturday game at the Anilao covered gym to take a first-quarter lead but PBA Legends surged to 48-40 in the second behind David and Fritz Infante.
PBA Legends continued its torrid shooting behind David, who fired four straight 3-pointers, to widen the lead before Anilao tried to mount a comeback with outside shots.
“We are thankful that the PBA Legends agreed to play here, making this year’s Banaag Festival memorable,” said event organizer Ruding Villaruz. “We hope we can repeat this next year.”
Prior to the game, around 65 students and out-of-school youth from barangays in Anilao joined a basketball sports clinic facilitated by David./PN
