ROXAS City – The provincial government of Capiz recently formed a task force that will focus on maintaining peace and order in the province.
Task Force Tabang, an interagency group, was constituted during a joint meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council and the Provincial Antidrug Abuse Council.
Gov. Antonio Del Rosario presided the meeting.
Lieutenant Colonel Leonardo, deputy commander of the Philippine Army’s 301st Infantry Brigade, said the task force will serve as a medium for the convergence of security efforts of various stakeholders in the province.
“These include the local government units, national government agencies, key leaders and stakeholders of peace, order, security and public safety, and the communities,” Peña added.
Task Force Tabang is led by Del Rosario as the chairman. The task force’s subgroups also have chairpersons.
The interagency group is expected to be replicated in different barangays in Capiz.
Peña explained that the formation of the task force is a strategy. It aims to put an end to the communist insurgency that threatens peace and order in Western Visayas.
“It (Task Force Tabang) aims to make drug-free communities and reduce the vulnerabilities of the populace to insurgency and terrorism,” Peña added. (PIA/PN)
