BACOLOD City – This city’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) has a new head.

Dr. Frances Mae Llamas has been designated PESO manager by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez through Memorandum No. 0178, signed on Nov. 7.

She took over the position after city administrator Atty. Pacifico Maghari III resigned on Nov. 1.

Llamas is also the city government’s Management Information Technology and Computer Services department head and the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Officer.

The new PESO head shall exercise and perform the duties, responsibilities, and functions attached to her recent designation in addition to her prior duties.

On Thursday afternoon, Nov. 9, Llamas met with Jovelyn Canoy, PESO coordinator, to discuss the remaining activities of the office for this year.

Llamas said her current priority is to address the gap in the workers’ skill set, which she explained has been the observed problem in the previous job fairs.

The city government plans to tap the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to upscale the labor force by conducting a skills inventory.

On the other hand, Llamas disclosed that she is currently signing the Daily Time Record of the 2,800 beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers Program to have their compensation released soon./PN
