Petrogazz steamrolls past Motolite in Premier V-League

MANILA – PetroGazz Angels kept its unbeaten start in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference after a 25-22, 25-18, 25-19 sweep of Motolite Power Builders at the San Juan Arena.

Cuban import Wilma Salas finished with 25 points with all but one coming off attacks and added nine excellent receptions on Sunday night, while Janisa Johnson had triple-double 13 markers, 12 receives and 10 digs for the Angels (3-0).

Salas and Johnson were on point since the start of the match as they leapfrogged on the Power Builders at the start of each set before preventing the opponent from mounting a run to stay perfect.

“Sa part namin talagang hangga’t maaari wala talagang magko-complacent, magri-relax. The more na nananalo kami magpu-push talaga kasi maghahanda ang ibang team,” said Angels head coach Arnold Laniog.

American Channon Thompson was the lone Power Builders’ player in double figures with 22 points, on 16 attacks, three aces and three kill blocks, while Isa Molde and Diana Carlos combined for 12 markers.

In the second game, Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin feasted on offense as the Creamline Cool Smashers cruised to a 23-25, 25-12, 25-17, 25-23 victory over BanKo Perlas Lady Spikers.

Kaewpin punished the Perlas Spikers’ service reception with nine aces to finished with 27 points to go along with 15 excellent receptions and eight excellent digs for the defending champions Cool Smashers.

Alyssa Valdez added 19 points built on 15 kills, three kill blocks and an ace with eight receives while Venezuelan Ale Blanco and Risa Sato scored 10 and eight markers, respectively, for the Cool Smashers (2-1)./PN
