Petron disposes Sta. Lucia in PH Superliga

MANILA – Petron Blaze Spikers made a short work of the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors, 25-12, 25-16, 25-17, in the 2019 Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.

Mary Remy Palma top scored with eight points on five attacks and three blocks as the defending champions ended the first round of elimination with a 6-1 win-loss slate.

Against the struggling Lady Realtors, the Blaze Spikers dominated all scoring departments. It scored more attacks (37-22), blocks (6-3), and service aces (6-3).

The Blaze Spikers showed dominance early on and never let the Lady Realtors to come back behind veteran setter Rhea Dimaculangan’s excellent play-making skills.

Despite their winning run, however, Dimaculangan admitted there is still a lot of work to do for the Blaze Spikers to keep in step with other squads, particularly with the still undefeated F2 Logistics Cargo Movers.

“Siguro unti-unti nang bumabalik ‘yung old form ng Petron pero kulang pa rin,” said Dimaculangan, who paced the team with 17 excellent sets. “Actually lahat ng teams lahat competitive so lahat dapat pare-pareho ‘yung preparations namin.”

On the part of the Lady Realtors, the sorry defeat against the powerhouse Blaze Spikers slumped them to a 1-6 win-loss card./PN
