Petron sweeps PLDT, stays undefeated in PH Superliga

MANILA – Petron Blaze Spikers extends further its unbeaten run in the 2019 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix after halting erstwhile streaking PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters, 25-16, 25-21, 25-14, on Tuesday night at San Juan Arena.

Imports Stephanie Niemer and Katherine Bell had another impressive performance for the defending champions Blaze Spikers, which tightened its hold of the top spot with 10-0 win-loss slate.

Niemer unloaded 16 kills and delivered five of Petron’s nine service aces for 21 points to go along with nine digs and six excellent receptions while Bell poured 19 points off 17 spikes and a pair of blocks.

Rhea Dimaculangan was also impressive with 31 excellent sets while nailing the match-winning point in the third set, where the Blaze Spikers stepped on the gas with an 18-10 spread.

Kendra Dahlke was the lone double-digit scorer with 16 points while fellow reinforcement Grace Lazard was limited to just eight markers for the Power Hitters, which slid to 6-5.

Meanwhile, F2 Logistics Cargo Movers got a morale boosting win ahead of its clash with the Blaze Spikers following a 25-23, 25-14, 25-16 victory over the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors.

American import Becky Perry battled stomach pain to finish with 17 points, on 10 attacks, four blocks and three service aces, for the Cargo Movers, which improved to 8-2 win-loss card./PN
