MANILA – Kaya Iloilo vented its ire on JPV Marikina with a 3-0 domination in the 2018 Philippines Football League on Sunday at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

After its back-to-back losses in the hands of Ceres Negros (1-0) and Stallion Laguna (2-1), Kaya blanked JPV with Miguel Tanton, Alfred Osei and Robert Lopez Mendy firing a goal each.

Determined to snatch the victory, Kaya barged into the scoring column with a free kick from Tanton and a ricochet from Osei for a 2-0 edge.

Kaya had multiple opportunities to extend the lead but Connor Tacagni and Lopez Mendy misfired in their attempts. The team raised the advantage 3-0 on a penalty by Lopez Mendy.

“Our training heading into this game was very good. We addressed some of the issues in our previous games,” said Kaya team manager Chris Greatwich.

Kaya remained on second place in the standings with 36 points on 11 wins, six draws and three losses while JPV ranked fifth with 17 points on six wins, two draw and 14 losses.

On Saturday, Paolo Bugas proved to be the torn on the side of his former squad as he led Stallion Laguna to a come-from-behind 2-1 win over the struggling Global Cebu.

Bugas scored the go-ahead goal late in the second half to complete Stallion’s fight-back after conceding an early goal to Global, which played sans resigned head coach Marjo Allado.

Charlie Beaton scored the early stunner for Global in the second minute but Stallion had a quick response five minutes later courtesy of Nathaniel Alquiros./PN
