PFL: Kaya plays host to Stallion in Iloilo

KAYA Iloilo begins its tough stretch in the 2018 Philippines Football League when it plays host to the struggling Stallion Laguna on Wednesday at the Iloilo Sports Complex in La Paz, Iloilo City.

In the game slated at 3 p.m. Kaya aims to increase its 9-3-2 win-loss-draw record (29 points) while Stallion (7-0-7 for 18 points) hopes to end its skid.

Kaya head coach Noel Marcaida said they will target a win against Stallion to boost their record before they play back-to-back games with defending champion Ceres Negros on July 7 and 11.

“It’s going to be a massive week ahead. We will have three games in eight days,” Marcaida said. “The result of those matches will be important as it will determine if we are in contention for the league championship.”

“It is important for us to get a good result against Stallion to [reduce] the point difference before we play the defending champion Ceres Negros,” the veteran mentor said.

Kaya will play without the injured Jordan Mintah and rely on Alfred Osei, Eric Giganto, Masanari Omura, Jovin Bedic, Jalsor and Janrick Soriano, Camelo Tacusalme, Ref Cuaresma, and Kenshiro Daniels.

Stallion will bank on Ruben Doctora Jr., Jan Jesus Melliza, Benito Rosalia, Matthew Nierras, Terrence Linatoc, Nathaniel Alquiros, Carlo Polli, Abou Sy, and Reynald Villareal.

This will be the third meeting between the two teams. Stallion won 3-1 in their clash on April 15 in Biñan, Laguna before Kaya countered with a 4-1 triumph seven days later in Makati City./PN
