ILOILO City – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo vented its ire on the Philippine Air Force FC via a 2-1 victory in the 2019 Philippines Football League yesterday at the Iloilo Sports Complex here.

Connor Tacagni and Kenshiro Daniels nailed one goal each in the opening half.

With the win, the Iloilo-based football club bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Ceres-Negros FC earlier this week.

Tacagni opened the scoring at the 40th minute. He pounced on a weak back pass for an easy conversion. He then assisted Daniels three minutes later for a 2-0 edge.

The Air Force pulled one back just before the halftime break with a 45th minute hit. The Airmen had an opportunity to equalize in the second half but the Ilonggos tightened its defense.

Kaya Iloilo head coach Noel Marcaida said he was delighted that his team delivered in front of Ilonggo fans in their first game at the La Paz stadium since November last year.

“It has been close to a year since we last played here,” Marcaida said. “We really expected a good game with the Air Force because most of their players were Ilonggo.”

The Ilonggos remain at second place after the win with 40 points, on 13 wins, one draw and three losses.

The Air Force, on the other hand, is at sixth with 11 points, on three wins and two draws and 12 losses./PN
