ILOILO City – With just days before his mandatory retirement, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil capped his national tour with a visit to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) here on May 27, inaugurating major infrastructure projects and commending the region’s police force for their recent role in ensuring peaceful elections.
Marbil led the inauguration of a newly completed five-storey condominium building inside Camp Gen. Martin Teofilo B. Delgado, Fort San Pedro.
The facility, constructed in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), will serve as the billeting quarters for the PRO-6 Command Group and Regional Staff — a significant upgrade in police accommodations and operational readiness.
The PNP chief also spearheaded the groundbreaking of the soon-to-rise Heroes Wall and unveiled a commemorative bust of General Martin Teofilo B. Delgado, the Ilonggo hero who led a local uprising against the Spanish colonization of the Philippines after whom the camp is named. The twin tributes, he said, serve as enduring symbols of valor and service among uniformed personnel.
Adding momentum to the day’s agenda, PRO-6 formally launched “PRO6 ON T.O.P.” (Technology Oriented Policing), a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing police efficiency through the adoption of digital tools and modern systems.
General Marbil lauded PRO-6 under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky for its performance during the recently concluded May 12 national and local elections and the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections. He awarded medals to several police officers, including those who served as Special Electoral Board members deployed to Basilan.
“The orderly conduct of the recent elections reflects the professionalism, preparedness, and dedication of our men and women in uniform. I commend PRO-6 for a job well done,” said Marbil.
With his retirement set for June 7, the outgoing PNP chief also delivered a parting message to the PRO-6 personnel.
“Let us continue to serve with integrity, uphold professionalism, and strengthen the public’s trust in the Philippine National Police,” he said, underscoring his call for ethical policing beyond his term./PN
