MANILA – Former President Rodrigo Duterte may be charged with obstruction of justice for failing to disclose the whereabouts of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

According to Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, they are looking for witnesses who can tell that the former Chief Executive knows where the fugitive pastor is hiding.

“Obstruction of justice po ‘yan. And we’re checking po if we can file against these people,” Marbil said in an interview with Teleradyo Serbisyo on Monday.

“I just want to make it clear, hindi po siya pastor. He’s a fugitive of the law. Tatlong buwan na e, more than two months na pong nagtatago,” he added.

Former President Duterte, a close ally of Quiboloy, said in a recent interview from Davao City that he knows where Quiboloy is hiding but it is “secret”.

“Sabi niya na alam niya. We’re looking and we’re getting witnesses to file a case against these people. Hindi po tayo puwedeng magtago ng pugante,” Marbil said.

“Kung sino mang nagtatago n’yan, same gobyerno tayo. Kung tingin mo talagang… siya [ay] inosente, then go to court,” the PNP chief continued.

Quiboloy has a warrant of arrest from Davao Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 12 for the charge of violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law, specifically the provision on sexual abuse of minor and maltreatment.

Last month, PNP officials and KOJC supporters figured in a clash in one of Quiboloy’s properties in Davao City as authorities attempted to serve arrest warrants against the religious leader./PN
