ROXAS City – Not just five but 12 personnel of the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) were given the Philippine National Police (PNP) Medal of Merit, or Medalya ng Kagalingan.
Five Capiz police officers were conferred the recognition on Monday, a report from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) had said.
While the five attended the ceremony at the regional police headquarters in Iloilo City, seven others — including the provincial police director, Senior Superintendent Samuel Nacion — were given the same medal, said Inspector Wilfredo Venus Jr.
Venus was one of awardees mentioned in the PRO-6 report. Others were Police Officer 3 Shani Alanic, Police Officer 3 John Alelegay, Police Officer 3 Ernesto Bautista, and Police Officer 1 BG Ardee Alam.
“Five of us attended the awarding ceremony on Oct. 17 at Camp Martin Teofilo B. Delgado in Iloilo City,” Venus said.
Aside from Nacion, others conferred the PNP Medal of Merit were Senior Police Officer 1 Gavino Gemino, Police Officer 2 Steve Obalubao, Police Officer 2 Jione Casabon, Police Officer 1 Argie Esico, Police Officer 1 Ereberto Fantilaga, and Police Officer 1 Lawrence Arcangeles.
They composed the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group – Alpha Team that arrested drug suspect Roberto dela Cruz around 9:20 p.m. on Oct. 6 at Rustic Lodge in Barangay Banica.
Three big sachets, or bulto, of shabu and six small sachets of the same drug were recovered from dela Cruz.
According to Venus, the suspect was getting his supply of illegal drugs from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
It was a noteworthy achievement for Venus and his team, said former city police director Senior Superintendent Julio Gustilo Jr.
“They have earned credit and honor not only for themselves but also for the entire police organization,” the head of the PRO-6’s Personnel and Human Resource Development Division said in a text message./PN
