MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has yet to validate President Rodrigo Duterte’s “updated” list of drug personalities.
And just like what it did with the first list, the PNP will investigate those who are on the list before building a case, if necessary, the spokesperson Chief Superintendent Dionardo Carlos told a news conference yesterday.
“As of now, we still do not have the updated list,” Carlos said. “But once we receive a copy of it, we will do a validation on the new personalities mentioned and, if necessary, case buildup.”
“This is the same process we did before,” he added. “We will be informing the person involved or the subject involved that you are on the list and give them a chance to give their side.”
Duterte gave the first list to PNP chief Ronald dela Rosa in August last year.
Verification and investigation, which dela Rosa ordered upon receiving the list, are still ongoing, Carlos said.
“Na-task ni Chief PNP iyong lahat ng regional directors to validate and conduct further investigation on those on the list,” he said.
“Kapag naibigay sa amin iyong updated list at may specific instructions kung ano’ng gagawin natin sa listahan na iyon e ipapatupad ng PNP,” he added. “We will give those mentioned chance to clean their names.”
Duterte showed what he claimed to be an updated list of drug personalities in the country during a recent meeting with representatives of mining companies in Malacañang. He did not mention any name on the list./PN
