SANTA Clarita International School Primes booked the last quarterfinals seat in the Bingawan Foundation Cup Season 2 High School Basketball Premier Tournament.
Kimrey Servano scored a buzzer-beater to lift Primes, the defending champion, to an 85-83 victory over Assumption School Passi City on Tuesday at the Bingawan National High School gym.
Primes finished its Bracket A eliminations with a 1-2 win-loss slate while Assumption ended with 0-3.
Earlier in the day Primes suffered a stinging 93-79 defeat at the hands of University of San Agustin Golden Eagles. John Michael Vicencio scored 22 markers for San Agustin.
Primes head coach Rodel Camacho admitted that his squad was still adjusting after losing veterans Ralph Bajon, Marc Jimenez, Jemar Cepriano, and Wilmer Dalumpines to Manila-based schools.
“Maraming players ang nawala sa amin. Our new players are still blending with our holdovers [but] we are close to achieving our goal,” Camacho told Panay News.
The league takes a break Thursday before resuming with the quarterfinals Friday. Primes is taking on St. Robert’s Academy Panda Rockets at 1:30 p.m. and Golden Eagles will face CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights at 3 p.m./PN
