ILOILO City – A total of 516 wanted persons were apprehended in separate operations across Western Visayas during the first two months of the year.
Records from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed that 250 fugitives were arrested in January, including 165 facing lesser offenses and 81 classified as most wanted individuals. In February, authorities nabbed 266 fugitives, of whom 201 were accused of lesser offenses while 65 were among the top 10 most wanted persons.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) recorded the highest number of arrests during the two-month period with 254 fugitives apprehended.
PRO-6 director Brigadier General Josefino Ligan lauded police personnel across the region for intensifying operations against wanted persons.
“I really appreciate the efforts of our personnel in pursuing those who are wanted in our area, aside from our campaign against illegal drugs,” Ligan said.
He also praised the IPPO for its accomplishment and encouraged other police units to intensify their operations against fugitives./PN
