ILOILO City – Fifty more drug surrenderers completed their one-month rehabilitation at the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
Their “graduation” was held on Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Later Day Saints on Lopez Jaena Street, Jaro district.
According to Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, regional police spokesperson, the 50 – 49 males and one female – were the eighth batch of graduates of PRO-6’s “Camp Base Drug Rehabilitation and Treatment Program” designed by Pathway Recovery Foundation, Inc.
Overall, PRO-6’s drug rehabilitation program has now produced 456 “graduates.” Gorero said they were now undergoing “after care” (livelihood skills training) with the Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Social Welfare and Development and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
One of Tuesday’s “graduates”, the 31-year-old Jake Calamcaman of Barangay Ticud, La Paz district, was thankful to have been rehabilitated.
He said he started snorting shabu in high school. It was out of curiosity, he said, but he later got addicted to it.
“Tungod sang program ni President Rodrigo Duterte nakabugtaw ako kag nagpangako nga untatan na ang druga para makaobra man ako kag may isagod sa pamilya ko,” said Calamcaman./PN
