ILOILO City – Aside from illegal drugs, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) reported having carried out operations, too, against illegal gambling from Oct. 1 to 23 this year.
From 43 anti-gambling operations, P28,268 were confiscated, 59 suspects arrested and 16 cases were filed in court, according to Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, PRO-6 spokesperson.
In the same period last year, only 24 illegal gambling operations were conducted, 32 persons arrested, P14,353.50 confiscated, and 20 cases filed in court.
Iloilo province had the most number of operations conducted (35) followed by Iloilo City (5) and Guimaras (3).
“Respective focus teams on illegal drugs are now being utilized to run after illegal numbers games, specifically in the province of Iloilo and Iloilo City,” according to Gorero in a PRO-6 news release.
