BACOLOD City — Security forces have been fully deployed as authorities ramp up preparations for the highly anticipated Panaad sa Negros Festival 2026, with a temporary gun ban set to be enforced to ensure public safety throughout the celebration.
The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) led the send-off ceremony for Task Group Panaad Festival 2026 at 10 a.m. on April 11 at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, marking the start of security operations for the weeklong event scheduled from April 13 to 19.
PRO-NIR Regional Director Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay spearheaded the ceremony alongside provincial police officials and local leaders, including Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson, who emphasized the importance of strong coordination between law enforcement and the provincial government.
Around 900 personnel from various units, including police, fire protection services, and medical teams, have been deployed to secure key venues and manage the large crowds expected during the festival.
More than 100 logistical assets—such as patrol vehicles, motorcycles, radios, and transport trucks—have also been mobilized to enhance response capability and ensure smooth ground operations.
PRO-NIR said the security plan is anchored on intelligence-driven operations, heightened police visibility, and close coordination with local government units and partner agencies.
The deployment was highlighted by a ceremonial inspection of personnel and equipment, along with a blessing, symbolizing readiness and unity among participating units.
In line with heightened security measures, a temporary suspension of permits to carry firearms has been imposed across Bacolod City for the duration of the festival.
The gun ban will take effect at 12:01 a.m. on April 13 and remain in force until 11:59 p.m. on April 19.
Authorities said the restriction is crucial as the festival is expected to draw thousands of visitors from across the region.
PRO-NIR assured residents and visitors of its full readiness to maintain peace and order, while urging the public to remain vigilant and strictly comply with security protocols.
