ILOILO City – Twenty bicycles were turned over to the Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) of city hall.
These would help the PSTMO team created to enforce city ordinances on traffic and minors.
“The bicycles will be very helpful to our police auxiliaries. They will use it for faster and easier transportation while on duty,” said Mayor Jose Espinosa III.
PSTMO head Jeck Conlu and Task Force on Anti-Squatting and Illegal Structures (ASIS) head Engr. Robert Dumanil received the bikes on Nov. 20.
“Bicycles can reduce air pollution and biking is also a good exercise,” Espinosa stressed.
The bicycles will enhance mobility and visibility of PSTMO personnel in the streets to maintain public safety.
From Oct. 17 to Nov. 20 450 youngsters were apprehended by the police for violating the curfew ordinance for minors.
Under Regulation Ordinance No. 2016- 230 which amended Regulation Ordinance No. 2011-676, minors (those below 18 years old) are prohibited from loitering beyond 10 p.m. in restaurants, nightclubs, motels, dancehalls, amusement places such as internet cafes, video arcades, karaoke bars, billiard halls, beach resorts and other similar establishments.
