PVL cancels 2nd Conference for 2021

MANILA, Philippines – Following the successful Open Conference bubble in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte last month, the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) has canceled the holding of a second conference for the 2021 season.

PVL commissioner Tony Boy Liao stated that the 11 PVL teams unanimously decided not to hold another conference this year due to the majority of players being on the national women’s volleyball team.

“We had a meeting last Friday with all the Club teams representatives, and it was unanimously decided that we will just take a break this year so players can rest,” Liao told Spin.ph.

The PVL teams have agreed to resume operations next year, with an Open Conference scheduled for February and an import-laded Reinforced Conference in October.

Chery Tiggo Crossovers won the Open Conference last month after defeating Creamline Cool Smashers in three thrilling championship games.

Other teams in the Open Conference were third placer Petro Gazz, Choco Mucho, Sta. Lucia, PLDT, Black Mamba-Army, BaliPure, Perlas Spikers, and Cignal. Many-time Philippine Superliga champions F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, which skipped the previous tournament due to several injuries, is expected to make their PVL debut next year./PN
