BACOLOD City – The Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) of Negros Occidental earned close to P10 million in 2019, from sales on culled animal farms, farm products and by-products, issuance of Veterinary Health Certificates, farm inspection and registration and other veterinary and laboratory fees.
Bulk of the income generated came from veterinary inspection fees and veterinary health certificate issuances amounting to P6.588 million; followed by farm income with total earnings amounting to P2.9-million; then from registration and licenses, P366,500; and from walk-in consultations and other laboratory fees amounting to P237,809.
Data from PVO showed that the highest
source of income was generated from the regulatory services comprising 67.19
percent of the total earnings, since the province is one of the major supplier
of livestock and poultry to its neighboring islands like Panay and Cebu.
The income also manifests the effective implementation of Provincial Tax
Ordinance No. 2017-001, Series of 2017, carried out through district field
units established by the PVO.
Moreover, farm income is noted to be the second highest source of income for 2019, out of the sales derived from the two provincial farms, Negros First Ranch in Sta. Rosa, Murcia and Provincial Livestock Dairy Farm and Breeding Center in La Granja, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
This 2020, PVO aims to increase its collection by extending more products and highly improved services to keep the public satisfaction through effective and efficient implementation of its catered product and services. (With a report from PIA/PN)
